A: 12 missions total, each one
taking 1 to 2 hours to complete. The missions have multiple objectives
and the maps are huge, so don't worry, this isn't a short game.
A: A level editor will be
released soon, keep checking the downloads page (or this FAQ).
A: The game doesn't allow code-level
mods, like adding or changing weapons, changing AI behavior, etc.
But new levels and even whole new campaigns can be created.
A: The game should be available
at all stores that sell software in the US and Canada.
A: As of this writing (March,
2003) the game isn't being released in Europe. But if the game sells
well enough in the US and there is enough interest in Europe it
may be released over there. Also many European import shops
carry the game, so call around you might just find it.
A: The game is meant to be played
as a slow-moving stealthy tactical shooter. But you can set the
options to make it play more like an action game very easily, it
is quite fun in this mode and allows for a very different game experience.
A: Played on its default settings
the game is very difficult at first. But once you get into the "Groove"
and learn how things work it gets a lot easier.
A: The game is rated M for
Mature, due to the violence and subject matter.
A: nFusion Interactive. Not NFusion,
not Nfusion, not n-fusion. Get it right people! :)
A: The tutorial and third level
of the full game is included. The demo isn't crippled in any way.
It also includes all four multiplayer game modes.
A: The demo is 170 megabytes, zipped.
A: The F12 key takes a screenshot.
It puts a TGA file in the directory the game was installed to.
Q:
When I try to connect to a server it says it can't connect or I
might have an older version, anything I can do about this?
A: Yeah, that usually means that
the server you are trying to connect to is a different version than
your game. First thing you should do is make sure you have the
latest version of the game by going to the LOS:
Vietnam downloads section. If you do have the latest, then that
server may be running an older version of the game and you won't be
able to connect.

Technical
Issues
A: Look in the manual or the readme
for Infograme's tech support information. Alternatively you can
ask for help on the n-fusion.com forums, but usually your best bet
is to contact Infogrames.
A: Check the Downloads section
of the http://www.n-fusion.com web page for the latest patch information.
A: Some keys are used for special
functions in the game and can't be mapped. You will hear a "buzzer"
sound if you try to map an unmappable key.
A: Make sure you are running DirectSound
at full acceleration in dxdiag.exe, some games ask you to turn the
acceleration down.
Also try running
with the Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio 3D sound provider on the
Sound page in the Options screen. EAX, EAX2, and
other 3D sound providers can sometime cause problems.
Also remember to look in the readme,
there may be other solutions in there you can try.
3.
Graphics
A: The game uses a custom-built
graphics engine by nFusion Interactive. It is not a licensed engine
from another company.
Q: What
version of DirectX does the game use?
A: The game uses DirectX9, so you
must have DirectX9 installed to run the game.
4.
Gameplay
A: There are 4 basic keys that
you can use while playing the game. "Hold Position", "Follow
Me", "Hold Fire", and "Fire at Will". These
commands are usually bound to specific keys that you can use at
any time during the game. You can also give orders to specific men
in your squad, and tell them to attack specific targets. You can
also take control of any squad member directly.
A: Yes there is save-anywhere functionality.
A: Yes.
A: Here they are, cheater:
To access the cheats hit the
"talk" key (defaults to the ' key)
and type "cheatcheat" when the talk bar comes up then
press enter.
At that point you can type in the
following cheats when in talk mode:
"godmode" - godmode
"ammo" - unlimited ammo
"invis" - invisible
"fly" - fly
Typing a cheat a second time will
turn it off. Note that cheats don't work in multiplayer.
A: Remember that not only do you
have to complete all objectives, you must bring your entire squad
to the exit zone to complete a mission. On some missions it
may be required for you to manually maneuver your men into the exit
zone, or "lead" a rescued ally to the exit zone manually.
A: When your squad is close to
an unalerted enemy they will do their best to be quiet. This means
not yelling our orders to each other. :)
A: Your men choose the best weapon
for the job. So if they are close to their enemy they will choose
an automatic weapon over a slow-firing rifle any day. So if you
switch away from a squad member then back to him, don't be surprised
if he changed weapons while you were gone.
A: Press and hold down the
"Command Single Soldier" key (defaults to K), put your mouse over one of your squad members (so you can see
his name under your cursor) then give the command (such as "Follow
Me"). Only that squad member will follow that command.
Q:
When playing coop or mission mode, when I kill enemies they come
right back to life, what's going on?
A: If the server you are playing
on gives enemies more than one life they will keep coming back to
life. Its even possible for the server to set it so enemies
never stay dead, to make it extra difficult. If a mission
requires you to kill a particular enemy to complete the mission then
killing him just once is a enough, he doesn't have to stay dead to
complete the mission.
5.
Patching
Q:
What is the latest version of Line of Sight: Vietnam?
A: The latest version is 1.01,
there are no patches for the game.
