Q: How many missions does the game have?

A: 12 missions total, each one taking 1 to 2 hours to complete. The missions have multiple objectives and the maps are huge, so don't worry, this isn't a short game.

Q: Is there a level editor?

A: Yes! Head over to the Downloads section of the site to download it.

Q: Can "mods" be made for this game?

A: The game doesn't allow code-level mods, like adding or changing weapons, changing AI behavior, etc. But new levels and even whole new campaigns can be created.

Q: Where is the game available?

A: The game should be available at all stores that sell software in the US and Canada.

Q: Will the game be released in Europe/Australia/Asia/etc.?

A: As of this writing (November, 2002) the game isn't being released in Europe. But if the game sells well enough in the US and there is enough interest in Europe it may be released over there.

Q: Is the game a run and gun shooter or a tactical sim?

A: The game is meant to be played as a slow-moving stealthy tactical shooter. But you can set the options to make it play more like an action game very easily, it is quite fun in this mode and allows for a very different game experience.

Q: How difficult is the game?

A: Played on its default settings the game is very difficult at first. But once you get into the "Groove" and learn how things work it gets a lot easier.

Q: What is the game's ESRB rating?

A: The game is rated T for Teen.

Q: Just what is your company name exactly?

A: nFusion Interactive. Not NFusion, not Nfusion, not n-fusion. Get it right people! :)

Q: What is included in the demo?

A: The tutorial and second level of the full game is included. The demo isn't crippled in any way, you get to choose from all twelve men and can save/load and everything.  It also includes all four multiplayer game modes.

Q: How big is the demo?

A: The demo is 170 megabytes, zipped.

Q: How do I take a screenshot?

A: The F12 key takes a screenshot. It puts a TGA file in the directory the game was installed to.

Q: When I try to connect to a server it says it can't connect or I might have an older version, anything I can do about this?

A: Yeah, that usually means that the server you are trying to connect to is a different version than your game.  First thing you should do is make sure you have the latest version of the game by going to the DD2 downloads section.  If you do have the latest, then that server may be running an older version of the game and you won't be able to connect.

2. Technical Issues

Q: Where can I go for help?

A: Look in the manual or the readme for Infograme's tech support information. Alternatively you can ask for help on the n-fusion.com forums, but usually your best bet is to contact Infogrames.

Q: Why can't I set XXX desktop resolution?

A: There is bug in the game that doesn't allow you to set the resolution in the game to the same EXACT resolution as your Windows Desktop. This means if you are running your desktop in 1024x768x32 you will not be able to run the game in that resolution. Either change your windows desktop resolution, or try to play the game in a different resolution/bit depth.

Q: Are there any patches available?

A: Check the Downloads section of the http://www.n-fusion.com web page for the latest patch information.

Q: Why can't I map XXX key?

A: Some keys are used for special functions in the game and can't be mapped. You will hear a "buzzer" sound if you try to map an unmappable key.

Q: Sound isn't working right in the game what can I do?

A: Make sure you are running DirectSound at full acceleration in dxdiag.exe, some games ask you to turn the acceleration down.

Also try running with the Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio 3D sound provider on the Sound page in the Options screen.  EAX, EAX2, and other 3D sound providers can sometime cause problems.

Also remember to look in the readme, there may be other solutions in there you can try.

Q: I have an ATI video card, why do all the trees and bushes flash white all the time?

A: We have identified a bug on some ATI video cards that causes all the foliage in the game to be fully fogged sometimes.  While ATI works on a fix for their drivers you can eliminate the problem by turning off fog by using the Graphics options in the Options screen.  You will lost fog (and thus the game will look a bit worse) but it makes the game playable.

We tested the game with Catalyst 2.3, and only noticed this problem on Radeon 7200 video cards.  The 8500 and 9700 didn't have this problem.

3. Graphics

Q: What graphics engine does the game use?

A: The game uses a custom-built graphics engine by nFusion Interactive. It is not a licensed engine from another company.

4. Gameplay

Q: How do I command my squad mates?

A: There are 4 basic keys that you can use while playing the game. "Hold Position", "Follow Me", "Hold Fire", and "Fire at Will". These commands are usually bound to specific keys that you can use at any time during the game. You can also give orders to specific men in your squad, and tell them to attack specific targets. You can also take control of any squad member directly.

Q: Can I save my game at any time?

A: Yes there is save-anywhere functionality.

Q: Are there cheat codes?

A: Yes.

Q: OK then so what are they? Tell me! This game is hard!

A: Here they are, cheater:

To access the cheats hit the "talk" key (defaults to the ' key) and type "cheatcheat" when the talk bar comes up then press enter.

At that point you can type in the following cheats when in talk mode:

"godmode" - godmode
"ammo" - unlimited ammo
"invis" - invisible
"fly" - fly

Typing a cheat a second time will turn it off.  Note that cheats don't work in multiplayer.

Q: Why won't the mission end?

A: Remember that not only do you have to complete all objectives, you must bring your entire squad to the exit zone to complete a mission.  On some missions it may be required for you to manually maneuver your men into the exit zone, or "lead" a rescued ally to the exit zone manually.

Q: How come my men don't yell out orders sometimes?

A: When your squad is close to an unalerted enemy they will do their best to be quiet. This means not yelling our orders to each other. :)

Q: How come my men don't remember the last weapon I told them to use?

A: Your men choose the best weapon for the job. So if they are close to their enemy they will choose an automatic weapon over a slow-firing rifle any day. So if you switch away from a squad member then back to him, don't be surprised if he changed weapons while you were gone.

Q: Can I have my best medic use a health kit on someone else?

A: Yes! Just put the guy you want to use the med kit on under the cursor (so his name shows up) then the med kit will be used on him.

Q: How do you give orders to specific men in the squad?

A: Press and hold down the "Command Single Soldier" key (defaults to K), put your mouse over one of your squad members (so you can see his name under your cursor) then give the command (such as "Follow Me"). Only that squad member will follow that command.

Q: When playing coop or mission mode, when I kill enemies they come right back to life, what's going on?

A: If the server you are playing on gives enemies more than one life they will keep coming back to life.  Its even possible for the server to set it so enemies never stay dead, to make it extra difficult.  If a mission requires you to kill a particular enemy to complete the mission then killing him just once is a enough, he doesn't have to stay dead to complete the mission.

5. Patching

Q: When I run the patch I get the following message: "Error: -1612 The installation source for this product is not available.  Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."

Q: When I run the patch it says it can't find a file called "Deadly Dozen 2 Pacific Theater.msi"

A: In order to run the patch you need the original Deadly Dozen 2: Pacific Theater CD in the CD-ROM drive that you installed from.
